An element is stable when it has a full outer shell of electrons to abide by the octet rule it must have a shell of two then eight electrons. What I learned about chemical bonds is an attraction between atoms or molecules that allows the formation of chemical compounds, which contains two or more atoms.

Some atoms have too many electrons. They give up one or two extra electrons. These atoms like to give up their electrons. Some atoms are really close to having a full shell.

To be stable an atom has to have 8 electrons on the last shell

  5. In order for an atom to be stable, the last energy level must be 8. For example, if one atom has 12 in the level and the other has 4, the one with more can transfer and give up the 4 extra levels so both of the atoms will be stable. Chemical bonds happen so shells can be full.

An element is stable when its full outer shell is filled up with electrons or has the magical number of 8 electrons in its outer shell. I have learned that atoms have an atomic shell. Also when an atom gives an electron away it becomes positive. When an atom gets an extra electron, it becomes negatively charged. Any atom in an ionic/electovalent bond can get or give up electrons. Sharing electrons make a covalent bond. Oxygen and fluorine are a couple of electrons to make a filled shell.

An element is stable when it's outer most shell is full of electrons. When this happens it is called Happy Atoms. I learned if an atom has to many or to few electrons they are unstable. These atoms search for other atoms with extra electrons. Then the atoms bond and together they become stable.

Happy atoms are atoms that have filled their outer electron shell making them a stable element. I also learned that there are two types of bonds between elements: covalent and ionic bonds. A covalent bond is when an element shares or gives its electrons. A ionic bond is when an element borrows or takes an electron. I am very interested in this chapter and excited to keep learning about it.

An element is stable when the last shell has 8 electrons in it. Sometimes an element needs to give up or gain electrons to be a happy atom. I have learned that there are ionic and covalent bonds. Both ionic and covalent bonds need to either gain or loose electrons to have a full shell. I have also learned that sometimes in order to have a happy atom, that two atoms have to bond to create the last number eight, have full shells and be happy atoms.

An element is stable when it has a full outer shell of electrons. I learend that a chemical bond is formed by the joining of two or more atoms. The most extreme cases of chemical bonds are Covalent and Ionic. A Covalent bond is which one or more pairs of electrons are shared by two atoms. An Ionic bond is in which one or more electrons from one atom are removed and attached to another resulting in positive and negative ions which attract.

There is a certain rule that makes an element stable. To follow this rule, and make an element stable, the first shell has to be filled with two electrons. Next, the second shell has to filled with eight electrons, along with the third one as well. Elements could either give up the extra electrons they have or, if they don't have enough, try to get some. I have learned a lot about chemical bonds. For example, there are two main types of chemical bonds that hold atoms together: covalent and electrovalent/ionic bonds. Covalent compounds are when atoms share electrons and ionic compounds happen when electrons are donated from one atom to another. As you can see, I have learned very much about chemical bonds.

In order for an element to be stable, the last energy must have the"magic number" 8 electrons total. An element's goal is to become a happy atom. To become a Happy atom, they can give or take the number of electrons they contain by bonging with other elements. There are two different types of bonds, covalent and ionic. Bonds that are covalent give there electrons to others, and ionic bonds do the opposite, take them.

Happy atoms are atoms that have full electron shells, or have the maximum electrons in an energy level. A stable element has 8 electrons in its last shell. A covalent bond is when atoms give up some electrons, and a ionic bond is when an atom gets an electron from another element. If an element's last shell has one electron, and if its second to last shell has 8, it may want a covalent bond to happen so it can give its extra electron away. An element that has 7 electrons in its last shell, it might a ionic bond to happen so it can gain one electron to get 8.

An element is stable when it has a full outer shell of electrons or has the magical number of 8 electrons in its outer shell. The group 18 on the periodic table has all elements that have a full outer shell of electrons so all the elements are "happy". I learned that there is a rule 2-8-8 for the atomic numbers (elements) 1-18 and it is easier to give 1 or 2 electrons than to get 6 or 7 electrons. Also that sharing electrons makes a covalent bond and that borrowing electrons makes a ionic bond which is also called electrovalent bonds. I also learned this about chemical bonds: when a atom gives an electron away it becomes positive and when an atom gets an electron it becomes negative. The attraction of the opposite charges is the way the atoms form and maintain the bond.

Happy atoms are basically two atoms that make a outer shell of 8 electrons. A covalent bond is when atoms give up some electrons, and a ionic bond is when an atom gets an electron from another element. if hydrogen has 1 electrons on it and oxygen has 7 then they come together ad make water. two unstable elements come together and make something very stable, water

Mean "happy element" is all shells are full of electrons. If atoms have too many electrons they can give up. Atoms can share electrons, making a covalent bond or they can just borrow them and make an ionic bond or electrovalent bond. Atomic numbers between 1 and 18 have a 2-8-8 rule. The first shell is filled with 2 electrons, the second is filled with 8 electrons, and the third is filled with 8. When an atom gives up an electron, it becomes positive. When an atom gets an extra electron, it becomes negative.

Also some elements can fit perfect together to make them both "Happy Atoms".

for an element to be happy the last anergy level has to equal 8. An element is stable when it has a full outer shell of electrons. A covalent bond is when atoms give up a couple electrons, and an ionic is when one or more electrons taken from one atom are taken out and put on another atom resulting in positive and negative atoms.

  27. Chemical bonds link together atoms to make molecules .
Atoms can bond in three main ways: ionic bonds, covalent bonds and metallic bonds.
In ionic bonds electrons are transferred between atoms.
Ionic bonds occur when atoms with just a few electrons in their outer shell give the electrons to atoms with just a few missing from their outer shell.
An atom that loses an electron becomes positively charged; an atom that gains an electron becomes negatively charged so the two atoms are drawn together by the electrical attraction of opposites.
Sodium loses an electron and chlorine gains one to form the ionic bond of sodium chloride molecules.

A chemical bond is an attraction between atoms that allows the formation of chemical substances that contain two or more atoms. The bond is caused by the electrostatic force of attraction between opposite charges, either between electrons and nuclei, or as the result of a dipole attraction. The strength of chemical bonds varies, there are "strong bonds" such as covalent or ionic bonds and "weak bonds".

Chemically stable atoms need to have their last energy level end in a eight. For example, Argon is a "happy" element since it's energy levels are 2, 8, 8.Elements with a last energy level that is not eight can bond with others. Sulfur and Magnesium can bond since Sulfur's energy levels are 2, 8, 6, and Magnesium's are 2, 8, 2. 6+2=8, 8="happy" atom. Also their are two types of bonds. Covalent and Ionic. Covalent is when an element shares or gives an electron, but on the other hand Ionic is when borrows or takes. When an element has an Covalent bond it becomes positive, but when it has an Ionic bond it becomes negatively charged. I've learned many things about bonding because of Mrs. Zazzali

Recently, we have been learning about happy atoms. A happy atom is a stable atom. An element becomes stable when the last energy level has 8 electrons in total. If an atom has only one or two extra electrons, then it looks for other atoms that need another electron, and gives the electron to that atom. But if atom element is close to having a full shell, then it will probably look for more electrons to fill up that shell. If two atoms are looking for electrons, there are two things that they could do. If they share their electrons, then they are making a covalent bond. If not, they could borrow them from other elements which mean that they are doing an electrovalent bond. When an atom gives up an electron, it becomes positively charged. On the other hand, if an atom receives an extra electron, then it becomes negatively charged. Atoms in either bond have electrons. We have learned much about atoms, elements, and electrons!

In order for an element to be chemically stable "Happy" the last energy level must be full containing at least 8 atoms in the outer electron shell. If the last energy level contains less than 8 atoms then it combines with another element to form 8 so they can make a chemically stable element. For example, H2O is a combonation of 2 hydrogensand one oxygen. The hydrogens have 1 atom in the last energy level each and the oxygen has 6 atoms in the last energy level. Seperetly they are not chemically stable but together they are chemically stable because both of their last energy level atoms form a total of
8 atoms which makes it a "Happy Atom".

What makes an element chemically stable, is that it must fill up its outer shell with electrons. From what I've learned, an atom will gather electrons from other atoms to fill up its last energy level to with 8 elections and become chemically stable. For example, a Sulfur atom has a final energy level of 1 electron, and a Chloride atom has final energy level of 7 electrons. They will bond together, filling up their final energy levels to have 8 electrons, and creating Sodium Chloride, also known as tablesalt.

In order for an atom to be "happy", it must have all of it's energy levels filled completely. It must have 8 electrons. If an atom has an odd amount of electrons it has two options. It can either give it's electrons to another atom, or "borrow" electrons from another. When they do this, the elements become bonded together. If an atom gives away it's electrons, it becomes negatively charged. However, if it borrows electrons from another atom, it becomes positively charged.

  63. Happy atoms. Stable atoms. Both are the same. These are caused by 8 electrons in the outer shell of the atom. Electrons in the electron cloud determine whether or not the atom is stable. For example, Sodium (Number 11, symbol Na) and Chlorine (Number 17, symbol Cl) are both lethal when separate, however when they bond they will create a popular mineral to put on your fries - Sodium Chloride, or just salt. Now, this happens because Sodium, with 17 electrons, fills up 2, 8, and 1 on the electron cloud of Bohr's model. Chlorine, with 11 electrons, fills up 2, 8, and 7, respectively.
Sodium, to become a happy atom, needs to get rid of an extra electron. And of course, Chlorine will gladly take the spot as it needs an extra electron to become a happy atom. This, because it involves the gaining and/or removing of an electron, is an IONIC bond. The opposite type, a covalent bond, is when the atoms share electrons

When a chemical is a happy atom it means it is safe. To become a happy atom the last energy level for them combined has to be eight. For an example if two chemicals are combined and one has 3 as its last energy level and one has five it is a happy atom. This can go with any combinations like 2 and 6 and it can also go with more then one chemical and so on. As long as the last energy levels of the chemicals combined equals eight it is a happy atom.
