Is Friction really that important?

What is Friction?  Why is it necessary?  What would happen with out friction?

  1. First Post Yeah!!!!

Friction is a force that resists the relative motion or tendency to such motion of two bodies or substances in contact. It is important so that we can do everyday things like open a door or walk. If there was no friction we can't play sports. For example in football, no one can catch the ball because there is no friction to stop the ball. Without friction we wouldn't survive.

Friction is a force that resists motion between 2 or more objects. For example if you slide a book along a desk, it will eventually stop moving because the desk is applying friction to the book witch slows it down. Friction is necessary for our survival. Without it we would not be able to stand, walk, or open a door. We would not have anything close to civilization. The only thing all humans could accomplish without friction is lying on the floor all day.

    By the way, hi Abhi.

Friction is the resistance between two objects or more.An example is a car friction help push the car foward. Without friction we would not be able to eat because you use friction to chew. Also we wouldn't be able to do anything but just lie there and slide around.

Friction is surface resistance. Without friction, life would be impossible. We wouldn't be able to drive, eat, walk, or even move. Also, we would not be able to play sports if there was no friction. Friction is extremely beneficial to life on Earth.

Friction is the force that causes motion between two or more objects to be reduced. Friction is part of our everyday lives like walking to school or riding a car. Life would not exist if there wasn't any friction because we wouldn't be able to walk and I wouldn't be typing this blog if the chair I was sitting in didn't stop me from rolling.

Friction is the surface resistance between objects. It's necessary because without it, it would not be possible to do everyday things such as walking, driving, and writing. Basically, life would not exist without friction.

  8. Friction is the force of surface tension when two objects rub together. Without friction, life everywhere could not survive. Cars will be skidding and it will be impossible to stop moving. You couldn't even write with a pencil! Friction is very important to our world. :-)

Friction is basically the surface resistance between objects. We could not live with out friction. For example, people won't be able to move or if they did nothing will stop them. Since friction is resisting objects, nothing will stop us. I wouldn't be able to type right now. Like Keiyiu said that cars will be skidding around and we won't be able to move anywhere.

Friction is a force that acts in an opposite direction to movement. An example of this is a ball. If you kick it it will roll until it stops. The ball only stops because of friction. If we didn't have friction, we wouldn't be able to stop sliding everywhere. We wouldn't be able to grab or pull, or even exist. At first, friction may seem petty and unnecessary but even you think about it, without friction there wouldn't be life.

Friction is surface resistance between objects. friction keeps things from going forever. Without friction, a ball would keep rolling, we wouldn't be able to walk, and cars couldn't drive. Without it we wouldn't be here.

Friction is important because without friction we wouldn't be able to do a lot of things
    Ex) Eating, Driving, Walking, etc.
If we didn't have friction we probably wouldn't be here.

Friction is a force that occurs when to objects rub against each other, like when a car drives on a road. If there was no friction, we would be unable to hold on to anything, and we would just be sliding across the roads and would never stop. That is the importance of friction.

  14. Friction is the risistance between to objects, it is important to hav e friction in our life to keepus on the ground and staying upright. Without friction we would be sliding around aimlessly with no end.

Friction is resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another.
If there was no friction you would not be able to move as you would slip and fall. Without friction it would be impossible to start a fire using sticks as friction is needed for that. Without friction it would be like an ice skating rink everywhere people went it would be in constant motion unable to stop or control.

Friction is resistance of one surface when another surface or object rubs or pushes against it. With out it we wouldn't be able to do many things in life that we do not even thinking about it. For example, when brush our teeth in the morning with out friction brushing your teeth would be useless, you wouldn't be brushing off the plaque and germs. Another way friction impacts our life is when we are writing or drawing anything on a piece of paper. Friction is what rubs the lead off of the lead stick in a pencil onto the paper. In addition, without friction we wouldnt be able to drive to school because the friction stops the car when you push on the brake. Friction also starts the engine when you turn your car on. Further more, and most importantly we wouldn't even be able to walk, skip crawl, or even run without friction.

Friction is surface resistance to motion. It's necessary to have friction because without it we wouldn't be able to walk, talk, write, play sports or pretty much do anything in life! For example, we wouldn't be able to do the simplest things like opening a door. Imagine not being able to do anything, life would be SO boring.

Friction is when two objects rub against each other and slow an object down. Friction is very important to life because without it, our body wouldn't function properly. We wouldn't be able to eat because teeth wouldn't be able to rub against each other to break down food. Without friction no one would survive.

Friction is basically surface resistance which means it tries to push the object that is moving in the opposite direction until it stops. For example if you have a car and wanted to park, without friction this wouldn’t be possible because there would be nothing to stop the car from moving unless another force is applied. Also, the only reason you can light a fire with only 2 sticks is because friction is doing its job. The sticks are creating heat when rubbed which makes the sticks hotter which eventually becomes fire.
